Welcome to Reconcile Digest #10 (!). I’m so glad you’re here.
Today’s research digest is slightly longer than usual, and took slightly longer than usual to write. As well as reviewing a really interesting research paper, this digest serves as the foundation of a potential research paper I might write in the future. The premise is that the ‘conversation’ is a research method within itself, and that transcripts should be published and digested as is, as a means to preserve and memorialise important words being shared between people.
“when this conversation took place, the personal could still be political without becoming hostage to disabling narcissism.”
Paul Gilroy in the foreword of Uncut Funk (2018)

This is the second in our back-to-basics series, and what is more foundational in the art of knowledge than having conversations?
If you want to have a conversation (about the art of conversations) or want to write this paper with me, message me! It could be fun.
Finally, the book ‘Uncut Funk’ might just be the best book you read all 2026. Go and get it from your library immediately!
Stuart Hall Foundation recording & transcript based on the book is also available at the end!
